Startups and small businesses

You are the founder, the marketing team, and the person fixing the site at eleven at night

We give small businesses the same people who run programmes for government departments, scaled down to something you can afford and understand. Scope agreed up front, a price you see before work starts, and no jargon.

What we can do

The jobs small businesses actually ask us for

Pilates teachers, salons, coaches, tradespeople, independent consultants. Different trades, remarkably similar problems.

A website that earns its keep

Fast, findable and easy to update yourself. Built so the phone rings and the enquiry form works, on a phone, on the first try.

Bookings and payments

Clients book themselves in, pay up front, and get their own reminders. You stop chasing, and you stop losing the slot to a no show.

Automating the admin

The confirmations, the follow ups, the invoice chasing, the review requests. The work that is not hard, just relentless.

Someone to ask

A monthly retainer with a person who knows your setup. Small changes, quick answers, and no ticket queue.

Getting more enquiries

Sales, marketing and business development support through our strategic partners, aimed at owners rather than marketing departments.

Hosting and looking after it

Updates, backups, security and someone watching it. So the site does not quietly break three months after it goes live.

How it works

Three steps, and you see the cost before you commit

No discovery phase you have to pay for before you know what anything costs.

Step one

A conversation

Half an hour, free, no pitch. You tell us what is not working. We ask a lot of questions about how you actually run the business.

Step two

A written proposal

What we would do, what it would cost and how long it should take. One page, plain English. If it is more than you want to spend, say so and we will look at a smaller version.

Step three

We build it and show you

You see it working before it goes live. Then we show you how to run it, and you decide whether you want us on a retainer or not.

Why we bother

The small business work is not our charity arm

It is where the discipline gets tested. A department can absorb a clumsy system with more staff. A sole trader cannot absorb anything. If a thing we build is confusing, too expensive to run or needs us on the phone every week, we find out immediately.

Everything we build for a small business has to work with nobody watching it. That is a much harder specification than most enterprise requirements.

Why this practice exists

Where a piece of work needs a specialism we do not hold in house, we bring in one of our strategic partners and tell you who is doing what.

Common questions

The things people ask before they ring

Mostly about money, which is fair enough.

How much does a website cost?
It depends on how much of it we are building and how much you already have. What we aim to give you is a written price before any work starts, and if it is more than you wanted to spend we will look at a smaller version rather than quietly stretching the budget.
I already have a website. Can you just fix it?
Often, yes, and that is usually cheaper than starting again. We will look at what you have, tell you honestly whether it is worth keeping, and say so if the answer is no.
Do I have to sign up to a monthly contract?
No. Retainers are optional, and we would rather agree terms that suit how you actually work. Plenty of clients have a project built, take the keys and run it themselves, and that is a perfectly good outcome as far as we are concerned.
Will I be able to update it myself?
That is the intention. We build on tooling you can actually manage, and we show you how before we finish. If you would rather not touch it, that is what a retainer is for.
Are you not a bit big for a business like mine?
We are deliberately set up so we are not. The same practitioners who run larger programmes take small business work, at a scale and price built for it. If your job genuinely needs a bigger firm, we will tell you.

Start here

Tell us what is not working. We will tell you what it would take to fix.

Half an hour on the phone, no charge and no pitch deck. If it turns out you do not need us, we will say so and point you at something simpler.
