Tools we recommend, and what we earn from them
We have affiliate arrangements with a small number of tools we use ourselves. This page lists every one of them, so you can see the full picture rather than working it out page by page.
How this works
Three rules we apply to every recommendation
Affiliate income is a small part of what we do and we would rather keep it that way than let it shape our advice. So we hold ourselves to a few rules, and you can hold us to them too.
- 01
We use it, or we do not link to it. Every tool on this page is one we use in our own business or have used on client work. We do not sign up to programmes for products we have never touched.
- 02
We say when it is the wrong answer. Each page below has a section on who should not buy the thing. If a tool only makes sense for some readers, saying so is the only version worth publishing.
- 03
The commission is disclosed before the recommendation. Not in the small print at the bottom. If you are reading our opinion, you already know we are paid if you act on it.
The full list
Everything we have an arrangement with
If it is not on this list, we are not paid for mentioning it.
What we do not do
The things a page like this is usually hiding
Affiliate content has a poor reputation, mostly deserved. Here is what we do not do, stated plainly so you can check us against it.
Rather just ask
Not sure which of these you actually need?
Tell us what you are trying to sort out. If the answer is a tool on this page we will say so, and if it is something else entirely we will say that instead.
